Android 15 is Now Landing on The OnePlus 12
Android
OnePlus used to have a bad reputation when it comes to Android updates, but the company has been better in recent history. Now, Android 15 is rolling out for the OnePlus 12, making it one of the first Android phones to get the new update.
OnePlus has officially begun rolling out OxygenOS 15, its modified version of Android 15, to the OnePlus 12. OxygenOS 15 brings a host of new features and improvements, focusing on performance, AI capabilities, and a refreshed design. AI takes center stage with several new additions such as “AI Detail Boost,” which upscales low-resolution images to 4K, while an “unblur” feature sharpens blurry photos without needing external apps. A “reflection eraser” intelligently removes reflections from images taken through glass.
Beyond AI, OxygenOS 15 includes other feature such as “Intelligent Search” for finding specific content across files, settings, and notes. Security gets a boost with some of Android 15’s native additions, such as the new smart theft detection feature. And visually, OxygenOS 15 has also been redesigned with a new boot animation, updated icons, and customizable fingerprint unlock styles.
This rollout is notable because we only got news about the open beta for the update mere weeks ago. It was supposed to roll out to the OnePlus 12 last week, on October 30th, but the update is already ready for primetime just 8 days later. Other phones from Vivo and Xiaomi have already gotten Android 15, but this is the first phone in the US, aside from Google’s own Pixel, to get the update. Chances are that the open beta was already pretty close to what was going to be released in the end, and not a lot of bugs were found, which is why the rollout was fast-tracked. You might still want to wait a couple of weeks before downloading, just in case.
